Astrology is considered as pseudo-science and is the oldest
approach of trying to understand human existence, their personalities and
destiny.
Research explains that a co-relation is found between
believing in astrology by people who are experiencing difficult times in their
life. An interest in astrology is in some ways a coping mechanism. It is
believed that astrology represents an immediate tool that can be turned in for
mental peace and comfort.
Astrology gives us a sense or say an illusion of control for
either the good or bad happening in one’s life. If something bad happens then
one simply blames on the position of the astrological forces and for good, credits
the same for achieving success.
During my college days, I recollect reading and later
purchasing Linda Goodman's book on sun signs. It consisted of insights into the
personalities of all the 12 Zodiac signs. It was quiet fascinating to learn and
decipher the traits of oneself or of our near and dear ones. It was considered as
a fun and harmless tool to engage with. I still do have the copy though but on
a lighter note, now I need not read it to understand people, with wisdom I can
interpret their behavior just like that.
To sum it up my point of view is lots of people especially
in India rely on astrology to interpret the stars for advice. As I stated above
it is a harmless tool but remember it's not a magical one so does not just sit
back and expect success to fall in your lap, work hard for the same.
